PEARSON VUE GMAT CHANGES

Pearson VUE began administering the GMAT January 1, 2006, taking over from ETS after many years. This transition has caused many to wonder about the state of the exam, how it has changed, and what the changes mean for test takers.

Pearson VUE and GMAC contend that the test has not changed. This is not entirely the case. We have been researching the transition, both before and after the change, and here are our findings:

Topics covered on the original GMAT continue to be covered on the current GMAT. No new topics have been added and no topics have been removed.
The format of the new GMAT is identical to the original GMAT. The number of sections, number of questions, and time of each section is the same.
The rules at the testing center have changed. For example, you are no longer given scratch paper, but instead special dry-erase paper and some markers.
Regarding the actual questions, our test takers report that so far nothing has changed. However, we believe that with any change in culture and with different question writers, differences will be inevitable. Naturally, we will continue to update our own study materials with questions that reflect the new exam, of course.
